03 Dec What Does “Living Your Best Life” Mean?
We see this phrase everywhere, from social media to TV, but what does it actually mean?
Today’s culture can make us feel as if we should be “living our best life” at all times, but is this actually unattainable? And does it contribute to a belief that we are not enough?
“Living your best life” shouldn’t mean living the best life out of everyone you see on social media. It should mean living the life that’s best for you.
It’s All Relative
We’ve all been there. We’re scrolling on Instagram when we come across a caption that says, “Living my best life.” The interesting thing about posts like these is that they are rarely photos of the same “best life” experience.
I’ve seen photos of people on vacation captioned with it, heard someone say it while getting their favorite complicated drink at Starbucks, and have even said it to myself on the rare occasion when all the kids are in bed early and I’m able to relax with a good book.
The point: living your best life is relative. My best life (working from home, spending time with my family and being a good mom) may not be your best life, and that’s okay.
So, How Do You Live Your Best Life?
Start by defining what your best life looks like. You can break it down into what your daily life would look like and what your life as a whole would look like if it were your “best.” Here are some ideas.
Daily life:
- Meditating or doing yoga once a day
- Waking up before 9am and going to sleep before 11am
- Being active for at least 20 minutes each day
Life as a whole:
- Eating nutrient-dense foods
- Getting the promotion at your job
- Weekly date night with your significant other
This list can be as long or as short as you need it to be! Only YOU can decide what your best life looks like. Once you’ve decided what you want, you can work on achieving it.
Artful Agenda Can Help
When talking about our product, we often say “live your best life with Artful Agenda.” This is because, when creating Artful Agenda, I wanted to design a digital planner that helps keep you inspired, organized, and on track to be the best version of yourself. Here’s how Artful can help you achieve your best life.
Goal Setting
Artful Agenda is the perfect tool to help you set goals and track your progress towards them. Our Month and Week views provide a designated place to write your goals and help you create a timeline for accomplishing them.
Meal Planning
Whether you’re trying to eat at home more, incorporate healthier foods into your diet, or lose weight, the meal planning section in Artful Agenda is a great way to get on track. Once you’ve added your meals to the section, they will show up in both the Week view and the Day view, which I love because I don’t have to add each meal to multiple places in my planner!
Water Tracking
Water tracking is a big one for me (and a lot of people!) because staying hydrated is so important for overall health. The water tracking function in Artful’s Day view is a fun way for me to make sure I’m getting at least eight glasses a day.
Time Blocking
There are plenty of things on my to-do list that I won’t ever get to if I don’t specifically schedule time for them. Because of this, I like to time block for the things that I know need to be done. To time block, I use the daily schedule to set aside specific periods of time for specific activities. This keeps me from getting distracted and helps me focus on the tasks at hand.
Enjoy the Process
Living your best life won’t happen overnight. It’s also likely that what you define as your “best life” will change as time goes on, so it’s important to view it as a process and not a destination.
As you’re working toward living your best life, remember to enjoy the journey. It’s so easy to become caught up in where you want to be that you forget how far you’ve come and how much you have to be grateful for. Don’t let the search for a better tomorrow take away from how good your today is.
Artful Agenda is a great tool to get you on the road to your “best life.”
