09 Jan Decorating Your Agenda: Artful Hacks
Full disclosure: one of the best parts of having Artful Agenda as your personal digital planner is decorating it!
From decorative covers in a rainbow of colors to cute and fitting stickers, there are MANY ways to express your personality and make Artful Agenda your own.
Read on for 3 of my favorite ways to decorate my agenda.
1. Use the Color Picker
Firstly, hands up if you love it when things match? I hear you!
For all of the aspirational designers out there, you can utilize the color picker to coordinate your cover with your calendar events.
How does this work, you ask?
Well, when you’re assigning your calendar colors, simply “Match…” in the lower right corner. Then hover the circle over the color from your cover that you want each calendar to match— and watch as your planner transforms into a BEAUTY right before your eyes.
2. Choose a Seasonal Cover and Colors
Similarly, if you’re someone who likes to coordinate your agenda with the season, I’ve got the PERFECT solution for you.
You can choose a personalized cover from Artful Agenda’s season-appropriate selection!
The following options are some of my favorites for each season:
Spring
Summer
Fall
Winter
Another great way to match your agenda to the season is by using hex codes to define your calendar colors.
For example, just search “winter hex codes” in our old pal Google and you can find an abundance of options!
You could also use a color resource, like Scheme Color, and type in associated words like “Christmas,” “leaves” or “sunshine” to find some seriously dreamy combinations. Be warned though: you really might fall in love on the spot.
3. Assign Practical Stickers
Finally, there’s a key way that you can focus on the practicality of Artful Agenda but still make it look cute—and that’s through our fabulous sticker collections.
Artful Agenda stickers aren’t just decorative- these emojis and images can be used as a way of flagging important events and details.
Are you putting a chore on your priority to-do list? Draw attention to it with a related sticker.
Are you blocking out time for an upcoming workout class? There’s a sticker that can be assigned to that.
Continuing this idea, assign one sticker for bills that are paid, and one for bills that aren’t. You won’t ever miss an important payment again!
Either way, there’s something about pretty hues and pictures that make even the most mundane tasks sound EXCITING! Am I right?
Decorating Your Agenda while Nailing Your Productivity
When I created Artful Agenda I was inspired by the fun and personal touches of a paper planner like covers, handwriting, and stickers. Artful Agenda is a platform that promotes personal growth and productivity, but my inspiration was really to meld those fun and personal touches with the usefulness and integration of digital planning. Opening Artful Agenda should be an experience that is exciting because you can make it reflect exactly who you are!
Planning is a lot more fun in color! Just try it for yourself.
Don’t have an Artful Agenda account?

Posted at 13:53h, 10 JanuaryWhen I’m pulling up an activity/appointment, the “match” button isn’t showing up. I’d love to be able to coordinate my planner like this, but I’m not seeing the match button appear. And how do I keep the colors from resetting? I find periodically, if I close the calendar and reopen it, the colors have reverted to a default color for everything.

Thanks for your question! The”match” option is only available for calendar colors. To find it, click the arrow next to the calendar and you should see the option to match there.

Posted at 06:09h, 17 JanuaryI just discovered the Artful Agenda, and I’m just in LOVE!! I’m telling everyone I know abou it! 🙂 Great job Kate!
I would like to provide a suggestion, in the future would you please be able to add a pictures feature? To be able to add a picture from your phone into your List would be very neat. Not only can it inspire your List but it can even turn into a mini-journaling/grateful journal!
Thanks!
Daisy

Posted at 14:56h, 22 FebruaryI love the Artful Agenda layout on my browser! Will the same layout ever be available on the iPad app? It’s nice to see my schedule, tasks, and lists all in one glance!
Katy Allen
Posted at 16:56h, 03 SeptemberHi Lauren! The best way to use Artful Agenda on the iPad is to download the app from the iTunes store. The layout is slightly different, to optimize for functionality!

I’m an Erin Condren lady, I thought I’d give this a whorl.
What an amazing concept! I love that I can access my planner from my laptop at work, I don’t have to bring all my stickers and pens! I cannot wait to see what changes are made and additions are put in!
Thank you Kate!

Posted at 13:19h, 30 MayHi. I’m just getting started and I’ve been playing around with the calendar colors. I’m wondering if there is a way to restore the original calendar colors that got carried over from my icloud calendar. Thanks!
Katy Allen
Posted at 16:40h, 03 SeptemberHi Patsy! There is not a way to sync calendar colors, however, you can copy and paste the hex code for an exact match.

Posted at 00:39h, 02 AugustLOVE this so much! It’s the best of both worlds…paper and digital. One thing I would love is to be able to change font size. I find it hard to see my tasks, meals etc. in the little boxes.
Thanks!!!
Katy Allen
Posted at 18:08h, 25 AugustHi Lauren! So glad you love it. Font size changes are on our list to develop in the future!

Posted at 12:03h, 19 AugustI’m still in my trial period, but this is a definite keeper. I’m loving this planner. I would suggest the ability to create additional tabs and to include a NOTES/Journal page template. Since I am using my agenda to keep me on task, it would be great if while I am in a meeting I could also jot down my notes and key takeaways.
Katy Allen
Posted at 18:10h, 25 AugustHi Sandra! Yay! So glad you love Artful Agenda. We do have notes/journal functionality. Just go to the lists tab in your account!

Posted at 18:13h, 25 AugustHi Jaime! I’m sorry you are having issues – you are welcome to submit a support ticket. To do this, click Tech Support in the menu section of Artful Agenda, and they should be able to help you out!

Posted at 17:14h, 08 JanuaryI go not get a “match” option on the color coding, just an “adjust” which is kind of a pain – suggestions?
Heather
Posted at 17:15h, 08 JanuaryNevermind – just saw the eyedropper icon with that option 😉

Posted at 20:31h, 10 MarchI use aa on Apple iPad and iPhone not the desktop version. Artful Agenda has so many beautiful colors to choose from but sometimes you are looking for just that perfect shade of minty teal (or whatever!). I saw in an earlier post how to plug in the hex code number for specialty colors to assign to your calendars. I am including a link to the website color-hex as they have all the hex codes. It is fun to browse through their newest colors or palettes for just that perfect shade of pinky salmon (or whatever!). So far this has worked very well for me.
