5 Fun and Unique Stay-at-Home Date Night Ideas

stay at home date night ideas

Looking for something fun to do with your significant other? We’ve got you covered. Here are some great ideas for stay-at-home dates.

Tent Picnic

This is a fun way to have a picnic without having to worry about the elements. Order delivery from your favorite place. While you wait for it to arrive, set up your tent, and add pillows and blankets inside.

If your wifi doesn’t reach all the way to where you have the tent set up, you can download whatever you want to watch. Most streaming services have apps that you can download to your phone or tablet that allow you to save videos to your phone.

Add some battery-operated candles to the tent, and you’re ready to have a cute, weather-proof picnic.

Build Your Own Charcuterie Boards

This is so fun if you and your significant other are into finger foods and snacking. You can do a regular charcuterie board with meats and cheeses, or you can do another fun kind of board!

Meats and cheeses

This can be an appetizer or your main course. Grab some meat and cheese from your local grocery store. (I love manchego!) Add some of your favorite crackers and nuts for texture and some sweetness like honey, jams, and jellies.

Brunch board

This is a great idea if you want to do a morning or early afternoon date, or if you like doing breakfast for dinner. The centerpiece on this will be some sort of carb like pancakes, waffles, or biscuits. These can be frozen/store-bought to make it easier, or you can make them from scratch. Add some protein (bacon or sausage), some fruit (berries and bananas), a little bowl of yogurt, and some butter, syrups, and granola. You’ll have a delicious mini brunch buffet.

Dessert board

I love this idea for satisfying my sweet tooth, and it’s a great option for celebrating holidays like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day because you can buy treats that are colorful and on-theme. Chocolate pieces, like Hershey’s kisses, and seasonal Oreos are a great place to start. You can also get creative by adding different cookies, several flavors of ice cream, and various toppings to create an ice cream sandwich or sundae board.

Movie Marathon

This is great way to either share your favorite movies with your significant other or discover new ones together. It’s also a perfect excuse to re-watch series like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings.

You can make the nights themed and tie in your snacks to whatever theme you’ve chosen. For example, if you do a holiday movie marathon, you can have candy canes, drink eggnog, and bake the same cookies you make for Santa.

Bake Off

This idea is inspired by The Great British Bake-Off on Netflix. Print out a recipe from the internet, and you and your significant other can see who makes the better end-product. Make the recipe as simple or complex as you’d like, just make it fun!

Paint

Did you know that you can make a paint-by-numbers of almost any photo? Get two copies made of a photo of you and your significant other, and make a night out of painting it together! Set up a paint station in your kitchen with all your supplies, plus some wine and snacks. You get a fun date, plus a cute keepsake when you’re done.
